Online civic services provided by CITY ISLAMABAD App have brought massive increase in revenues collected by the Excise and Taxation Department Islamabad. The information was disclosed in a tweet by National Information Technology Board (NITB). According to NITB, an increase of around 80% has been observed in the income of Excise and Taxation department after the deployment of CITY ISLAMABAD APP. It is pertinent to mention that the App is developed by the NITB. In year 2020-21, a total of Rs. 11.2 Billion were collected through the App which is a manifestation of its effectiveness and acceptability of the people toward the use of digital technologies.
Besides the increase in revenue, the App is facilitating the citizens in getting services through digital means at the doorstep. Currently, CITY ISLAMABAD APP is offering over 30 different services which fall in six major categories that include:
